A knighted option in LA’s ongoing burger renaissance, Heavy Handed just moved into a brick-and-mortar in Santa Monica after a successful stint as a food truck. The short rib burgers are decorated with caramelized onions, American cheese, house-made pickles, and given a healthy slather of Heavy sauce—a sweet and tangy concoction that’s reminiscent of Thousand Island. Order it as a single, double, or triple patty, and pair it with thin-cut fries that are cooked in beef tallow for a shattering crunch. Finish off your order with soft-serve ice cream, available in vanilla, chocolate, or swirled, with an optional dipped cone.
